Weather Update — September 21, 2026

There is no better indication that winter is fast approaching than a dusting of snow on our highest peaks! That’s what’s in store for us tomorrow as a weak shortwave trough moves over California bringing scattered thunderstorms and snow levels over 11k. Totals will be locally variable, but isolated pockets may get slightly more than just a dusting. Most of the precip is concentrated along the southern sierra crest.

After this, beautiful fall weather returns. The Dome Fire continues to burn in Yosemite National Park, reaching 3042 acres and 15% containment. As high pressure builds in, activity could increase and there could be smoke impacts on the Eastside.
