My friends…
Today is another stunner of a day on the Eastside, and I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…
Warm and dry weather will persist for the next 5 days. Then, a delicate forecast is in store early next week as several ingredients come together. The first ingredient is a cold trough diving in from the north. It’s currently not certain whether the trough digs inland of us, and how far south it comes. The second variable is Hurricane Rachel, which is recurving and will send its remnants not far off the coast of California. The most likely scenario is that some parts of SoCal will see remnant moisture, as well as the desert Southwest.
There is an off chance this moisture wraps up into the Sierra, but it currently looks like a less likely outcome. If it did happen, it could bring modest rain and potentially snow. As of now, this is just something we are keeping an eye on heading into early next week.
And now, for the weather this week:
In Mammoth Lakes and surrounding areas: Wednesday expect sunny weather with a high near 76, light and variable winds. Patchy smoke is possible in the night, which will be otherwise mostly clear with a low of 48. Thursday will be sunny with a high of 76 and an overnight low of 48. Looking ahead to this weekend, starting off beautiful and clear. Friday and Saturday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high of 72 on Friday and an overnight low of 44, high temps drop on Saturday to 63 with an overnight low of 38. By Sunday, there are slight chances for rain and snow showers, mostly in the afternoon, but again we need to wait and watch at the moment here.
And now down to our friends in the Owens Valley. Wednesday will be sunny with a high of 89 and an overnight low of 52 with light and variable winds. Thursday will be sunny with a high of 89 and a low of 52. Looking ahead to this weekend, Friday looks sunny with a high near 87, low of 50. Temps dropping again Saturday to a high of 83 and a low of 44. And then even cooler on Sunday with a slight chance for evening showers.
