My friends…

It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…

Dry and mild fall weather will persist for the next several days. Then, by around the 20th of October, another storm is coming into view. Uncertainty remains around the timing of the storm and the amount of precipitation it brings, but this one looks like a weak fall storm, bringing in pretty cold air and possibly several inches of snow.

The trend over the last day has been for a very slight increase in precipitation amounts shown as the storm is now coming in farther west, but overall there is pretty good agreement in modeling about this storm.

After this, the subtropical jet does seem likely to remain active, with the end of October also looking to bring a chance for more storms, but that’s a bit far out to begin discussing in any detail.

And now for the weather forecast this week:

In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas.

Friday will be sunny with a high of 65 and a low of 39, with easterly winds gusting up to 30mph.

Saturday will once again be sunny with a high near 66 and an overnight low of 38, with calm winds expected.

Sunday and Monday continue the trend of clear weather, getting a bit cooler on Monday and with storm chances increasing Tuesday through Thursday of next week.

And now down to our friends in the Owens Valley.

Friday will be sunny with a high near 77 and an overnight low of 47, and east winds gusting to 25mph.

Saturday once again sunny with a high near 77 and a low of 47, calm winds expected.

Sunday is more or less the same as Saturday with Monday cooling off slightly as storm chances increase on Tuesday lasting until Thursday.
