My friends…
It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…
Our first real-ish storm of the season came in on Wednesday with very high snow levels, initially higher than the summit of Mammoth Mountain. Precipitation will continue until Thursday night, with another burst of stronger precipitation Thursday afternoon. Snow and rain have been coming in the strongest to our south. And this is typical with this type of storm track, which is drawing warm air from the south. When a storm brings in moisture from the south, it often ends up kind of underperforming in Mammoth. This is because all of the higher terrain to our south wrings out moisture, leaving us in a rain shadow. Nearby higher places will do much better with this kind of setup. Even still, it’s good to see the flakes flying! We’re still waiting for a proper dump to get things started. Another storm window is appearing around Halloween, but it’s still a bit too soon to discuss any details around this window. As of now, it does not look like it will produce a particularly strong storm. Better chances for storms could appear in the first week of November, but we just have to wait and watch for something to appear in the forecast window.
And now for the weather forecast this week:

Eastside Weather is a passion project, but keeping it running comes with steady monthly costs: hosting, data feeds and the servers that crunch the model runs. Right now the site costs more than it brings in. Whatever you chip in goes straight back into keeping it going and building new tools.
