My friends…

It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…

Clear weather continues for just a few more days, and then we’re looking at a potential storm window for this weekend. Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten much more confidence in whether or not the setup will actually deliver to the Sierra, and we are still pretty much looking at a coin toss. Some models show several inches of snow with snow levels well below the town of Mammoth Lakes, while some show no snow at all. That’s just the honest truth right now.

Hopefully tomorrow we know more about what will happen, but again this is a super tricky forecast. Beyond that, storm chances will decrease momentarily into next week before the storm door reopens in November as a large Gulf of Alaska trough is setting up. We still have to get through this weekend first though!

And now for the weather forecast this week:

In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas.

Wednesday will start off sunny with a high near 53. It turns cloudier into the night, with a low of 33. Winds gusting as high as 20mph during the day and calmer at night.

Thursday will be cloudy, and then partly cloudy, with a high near 53, gusty winds up to 30mph, and an overnight low of 33.

Friday looks mostly sunny, with precipitation chances increasing Friday evening through Sunday, but this is still a highly uncertain forecast.

And now down to our friends in the Owens Valley.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high of 67, a low of 40, and calm winds.

Thursday starts cloudy, turning partly cloudy with a high near 66 and a low of 39. Calm winds are expected.

Friday looks mostly sunny, with precipitation chances increasing Friday evening through Sunday, but this is still a highly uncertain forecast.

Eastside Weather is a passion project, but keeping it running comes with steady monthly costs: hosting, data feeds and the servers that crunch the model runs. Right now the site costs more than it brings in. Whatever you chip in goes straight back into keeping it going and building new tools.
