My friends…

It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…

Our storm rolled in last night. Radar indicates that the heaviest totals fell to the north of Mammoth. Precipitation chances will continue today with scattered showers.

The latest change in this volatile forecast has been for more chances of scattered precipitation lasting until Saturday night, when the heaviest precipitation is still forecast to roll in. There has also been an overall trend up in the amounts of precipitation shown.

As of now, I’m expecting a range of 7-11” at Main Lodge, and 3-6” in the town of Mammoth Lakes and similar elevations on the Eastside. The heaviest totals will be to the west and north of Mammoth, but the southwest flow with this system favors us.

We will clear out Monday, but then more small and weak systems may be on the heels Wednesday and beyond. Interesting times ahead, my friends!

And now for the weather forecast this week:

In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas.

Friday starts with a chance of snow before 8am, then a chance of rain and snow as snow levels rise to 8600 feet in the afternoon. Accumulation is little to none in town, with around 1-2” possible at Main Lodge. It will be partly sunny with a high near 45 and a low around 31, with southwest winds gusting up to 30mph.

Saturday brings a chance of snow before 2pm, then rain, possibly mixed with snow, with a high near 45 and gusts up to 30mph. Saturday night is the heaviest stretch: rain and snow turn to all snow after 8pm, with 1 to 3 inches possible in town and 3 to 6 inches at Main Lodge, and a low around 31.

Sunday keeps snow going, mainly before 11am, adding up to another inch or two, with a high near 42. Sunday night clears out with a chilly low around 24.

Looking ahead, Monday is sunny with a high near 52, and Tuesday is mostly sunny and a little warmer, with a high near 55.

And now down to our friends in the Owens Valley.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a high of 64 and a low of 37.

Saturday brings a good chance of rain showers after 11am, and the steadiest rain comes overnight. Most spots get around a tenth of an inch, with up to a third possible. The high is 62 and the low is 38.

Sunday has a chance of showers until about 4pm before clearing, with a high of 61 and a low of 34.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday are sunny and dry, with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

Eastside Weather is a passion project, but keeping it running comes with steady monthly costs: hosting, data feeds and the servers that crunch the model runs. Right now the site costs more than it brings in. Whatever you chip in goes straight back into keeping it going and building new tools.
