My friends…
It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra, and that’s especially true when we have a fresh coat of snow on our mountains. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…
Our storm delivered respectable snowfall totals on Saturday night. At Mammoth Mountain, it performed as expected, delivering 9-15” of snowfall. Sensor data suggests that it brought about 5-19” of snow across our region.
On Tuesday, a weak and disintegrating system will clip us to the north. While I’m not currently expecting any accumulations, areas just to our north will receive several tenths of an inch of rain and several inches of snow at higher elevations. If it sags a bit farther south than currently shown, we could get in on the action.
Then, over the next 9 or so days, we will be on a warming trend. We are still monitoring that potential storm window for November 11th onwards, when a Gulf of Alaska trough is favored to set up. This pattern is a textbook El Niño look, and it’s been showing up consistently on models for quite some time. In addition to model confidence, this pattern has substantial support from a myriad of other factors across our global atmosphere. As a result, my confidence increases day by day. But it’s still far too soon to discuss any details about this window.
And now for the weather forecast this week:
In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas.
Monday will be mostly sunny with a high near 51. Clouds increase Monday night, with a low around 33 and southwest winds gusting up to 30mph.
Tuesday starts mostly sunny with a high near 46 and gusts up to 30mph, and there’s a slight chance of snow from late afternoon into the evening as that system clips us to the north. Little to no accumulation is expected. Tuesday night clears out with a chilly low around 25.
Looking ahead, Wednesday is sunny with a high near 47, and then the warming trend begins. Highs climb to around 50 on Thursday, the low to mid 50s Friday and Saturday, and near 57 by Sunday, under mostly clear skies.
And now down to our friends in the Owens Valley.
Monday will be sunny with a high of 62 and a low of 39.
Tuesday is mostly sunny and warmer with a high of 67, with south winds gusting up to 20mph, and a low of 33.
Wednesday cools a bit to a high of 61 before the warming trend kicks in. Highs reach the mid 60s Thursday and upper 60s Friday through Sunday, and it stays sunny and dry all week.

Eastside Weather is a passion project, but keeping it running comes with steady monthly costs: hosting, data feeds and the servers that crunch the model runs. Right now the site costs more than it brings in. Whatever you chip in goes straight back into keeping it going and building new tools.
