My friends…
It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra, and that’s especially true when we have a fresh coat of snow on our mountains. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…
Tuesday’s weak system brought a heap of wind alongside scattered showers mostly to our north. Our warming trend now kicks in for the next 9 or 10 days. After this point, we are still monitoring a potential change to more active weather. This signal has been showing up consistently in modeling for quite some time, and has broad atmospheric support, including from our historic El Niño.
Mammoth Mountain has been able to push their opening day up by over a week! They now open this Thursday, November 5th. This is thanks to the cold temperatures, which have aided snowmaking efforts, and modest early season snowfall.
Hopefully we can get a nice base builder soon to open up more off-piste terrain.
And now for the weather forecast this week:
In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas:
Wednesday will be sunny and calm with a high near 49. Wednesday night turns partly cloudy with light winds and a low around 30.
Thursday will be sunny with a high near 51 and light winds, with gusts up to about 12 mph in the afternoon. Thursday night will be clear and calm with a low around 30.
Then the warming continues. Highs reach the low 50s on Friday and the upper 50s on Saturday and Sunday, all under sunny skies and staying dry.
And now, down to our friends in the Owens Valley:

Eastside Weather is a passion project, but keeping it running comes with steady monthly costs: hosting, data feeds and the servers that crunch the model runs. Right now the site costs more than it brings in. Whatever you chip in goes straight back into keeping it going and building new tools.
