My friends…

It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…

Warm weather will linger for about another week or so, but skiing is already underway at Mammoth Mountain! Next week, we are closing in on what could be a pretty active pattern for November standards, and we’ve been tracking it for a while. My confidence continues to grow day by day, but it’s not yet a sure thing. The lowest end of outcomes suggested in modeling could end up being mostly dry, while a majority of scenarios are now latching on to anywhere from a moderate storm to a larger storm. But we can’t talk numbers, timing, or details until we’re within at least five days of an actual event.

This setup, which features a large trough in the Gulf of Alaska, is a pretty classic El Niño look. I’m expecting this to be a recurring theme throughout this winter, especially December into January.
