It’s always a great day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…

This week started off with another taste of winter. Mammoth Mountain saw only a dusting of snow while other areas saw slightly heavier showers, and the town of Mammoth Lakes had its first freeze in quite some time.

We’ll now begin a warming trend and stay clear for about the next 6 days. Around roughly the 20th of October, another trough is coming into view, which means more unsettled weather. As of now, this is looking like another weak fall event rather than our first real snowstorm, but we’re watching the time frame closely for any evolutions.

Like I’ve been saying my friends, our El Niño appears to be coupling to the atmosphere very well, and I believe in November we may get started for real with storms as the subtropical jet stream wakes up. Time will tell!

And now for the weather forecast this week:

In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas.

Tuesday will start mostly cloudy, gradually becoming sunny with a high near 49 and an overnight low of 30. Winds will be gusty out of the southwest up to 25mph.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 62, warming up quite a lot, with light and variable winds gusting up to 25mph.

Thursday. Sunny, with a high near 62. Gusty northeast winds.

The rest of the week into the weekend appears to be on a warming trend with clear weather currently favored.

And now, down to our friends in the Owens Valley.

Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 64 and an overnight low of 34. Winds will be strong out of the north with gusts up to 40mph.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 75 with light northwest wind and an overnight low of 41.

Thursday. Sunny, with a high near 77 and an overnight low of 41. The rest of the week into the weekend looks clear and slightly warmer.
