It’s always a beautiful day here in the Eastern Sierra. I’m Noé from eastsideweather.com, here for MammothFM in the Eastern Sierra, coming atcha with your local weather report…

Dry and warmer weather is favored for the next 5 or so days. But around the 20th of October, some signal is starting to emerge for another trough making its way down from the north. This trough appears to be bringing cold air from the north with it, and also appears to have a chance of becoming a cutoff low.

Again, my friends, cutoff lows are called so because they are cut off from the regular flow of the atmosphere, and they have a tendency to wobble and a tendency to make forecasting difficult.

Right now, and this is subject to change, the event around the 20th of October looks likely to bring between a dusting up to several inches of snow as well as cold air, but again this is far out and a volatile setup. We’re watching this event closely for any changes.

Fall comes and goes remarkably quickly in the Eastern Sierra. Fall color is peaking at most higher places, and is reaching full color at almost all places. Cold and gusty weather can strip the leaves, so take the next few nice days to get out and do some peepin’!

In Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas.

Wednesday. Sunny, with a high near 63 and an overnight low of 37, light and variable northwest wind gusting up to 25mph.

Thursday will be sunny with a high near 62 and an overnight low of 38 with gusty northerly winds up to 30mph.

Friday will be sunny with a high near 65, moderate easterly winds gusting up to 20mph.

This weekend, clear and warm weather is currently favored.

Wednesday. Sunny, with a high near 77 and an overnight low of 43. North winds gusting up to 20mph.

Thursday. Sunny, with a high near 77 and gusty winds up to 25mph.

Friday. Sunny, with a high near 78 and an overnight low of 44.
